∙ 18y agoIf it is restricted enough, the exhaust valves could burn out. Other than restriction, I wouldn't see how. Only if the pipes are pinched shut or almost completely blocked. Theres no backpressure it will stall out constantly or not start at all. (ever paint a potato black and stick it in someones exhaust pipe?) Theoretically, you can run the car with a huge gaping hole or no exhaust at all, it will sound like junk but it will run.

No
The burning smell from the exhaust pipe may be caused from oil or transmission fluid leaking into the exhaust pipe. For example, if your turbo is failing on the car, then that can cause leakage from the manifold into the exhaust pipe. There may be other reasons, too, which other people will be better articulating.
56,000ºC
That's where the exhaust pipe and the muffler is, maybe yours is damaged.
No, it will not cause smoke from the exhaust pipe. However the leaking oil can drip on the exhaust manifold where it will be burnt and smoke.
No, it is not. BUT: Starting a car with the exhaust submerged carries other risks. By implication there are other things submerged that could be damaged by water, such as the alternator, HVAC, or transmission. Also, the engine may not start if the starter cannot overcome the water pressure.
Exhaust gasses are escaping through a hole or rotted section of exhaust system
It could.
cause so times if you crash in a rock or a tree . then the oil comes out of the pipe
Yes. Just as a raw potato plugging up a exhaust pipe can cause a car not to start.
The cause of an exhaust indicator light in a Volkswagen Beetle is probably an oxygen sensor. There also a possibility that an exhaust pipe is plugged or there is a hole due to rust.
