but on the flipside, depending on the engine, by the time you tear down all the ignition/injection/intake stuff you might be better off just removing the other head and getting it checked out and replacing the head gasket so you don't regret it a few thousand miles later...

Most likely a cracked cylinder, a cracked block or a blown cylinder head gasket. Do a compression test. Check for other external leaks. Most likely the head will have to come off, for further investigation.
