Im not sure i under stand your guestion, but it sounds like the trailer wireing is wrong. The wires on the trailer should be wired like this. White is ground, Green is right turning signal,Yellow is left turning signal,Brown is running lights, Black is brake lights. I hope this helps you.

It's the same as with any other make of truck. Typically, a driver will push the switch to dump air out of the truck's suspension. If the kingpin lock isn't already pulled, they'll get out of the truck and pull it out before backing under the trailer. Once this is done, they'll back under the trailer, keeping the truck centered with the trailer. They should be able to hear the kingpin lock when it closes around the trailer kingpin. Once they believe they're under and connected to the trailer, they'll put the truck into first gear and pull forward to ensure that the trailer is properly connected. Once this is done, they'll get out of the truck again. They will connect their air lines (red to red, blue to blue) as well as the pigtail for their lights. Then they'll raise the trailer's landing gear. At that point, they're hooked up. From there, you'd check to ensure the trailer lights, brakes, etc. work, but that's after hooking up to the trailer.

Take a light tester and check the pins at the truck side trailer plug. With the truck set for running lights check for power at the pins. If there is power then there is a loose or bad wire on the trailer side. If there is no power then there is a power problem on the truck side.

If the Avalanche came with the factory trailering package, the trailer lights are separately fused from the other truck lights. Check your fuse panel layout for a 10-amp fuse for left side and a separate fuse for right side turn signal/brake light on the trailer.

I would have to say no. I have a tractor that is insured the only thing that is insured is just that the tractor (fire theft etc). Although You can get your trailer insured just as you can an ATV horse trailer car truck if you had a policy for it. your tractor insurance will not help with the trailer.
