it could be a hole in the floorboard. or it could br coming through the seals around the dome light and coming down the paneling
The problem is the AC vent opening has weather stripping that rots and crumbles when it gets old. Lift the hood, look on the passenger side near the windshield and you will see a plastic pan with drainage holes. Check here at this link for photos and details about the simple repair. Its fairly easy and can be done with household type stripping and silicone caulk.

heater core is leaking.
It sounds like you may have a bad heater coil. Next time you get a puddle, smell it... Chances are it is coolant and not water
The puddle will slowly evaporate due to sunlight and wind exposure. The water will either seep into the ground or evaporate completely, eventually causing the puddle to disappear.
The closest I can think of is the song "Stoned"
There are several reasons why there may be a puddle these are:It is raining and you are outside standing in a place of poor drainage resulting in the accumalation of still water known as a puddleyour house may be flooded and you may therefore be standing in a puddle.
yes it would gradually get smaller because the puddle wouldn't get bigger and it would't stay there forever so yes
How big was the puddle. If u dont have a bypass valve then yes u have water in your engine
A small body of water could be a puddle left after it has stopped raining, or a pool of water that is a garden feature, and so on.
the air condition drain line is plugged. our 2003 Envoy has suffered from this for the past 3 years. every couple of weeks i blow air into the drian line (located under the hood) and make sure i see the condensation puddle when parking (air conditioning has to be run before parking)
The driver who hit it.
I would suggest replacing the heater core only if you have a puddle of coolant on the passenger side floorboard. More likely the problem is with the blend door not directing air through the core. This is a very common failure on the GC. Check the web site at heatertreater (.net) for diagnostic procedures and a cheap, easy fix.
Likely your belt(s) are slipping when they get wet and are not delivering power from the alternator to the battery. Check your belts or tensioner.
