It will bolt in the same as any big block Chev
If it's a mailbu, It could have been a stright 6 cylinder or a 307 V8 or a 350 V8 If it's a SS ( super sport ) It could have a 396 big block or a 454 big block, maybe even a 427 big block depending on what type of SS it was.
a huge moter that they put in race car like the chevelle
it was a big block 454
3,600 lbs. or a little more.
5 qts with a new filter.
What is the biggest big block these days? A 572 maybe? They have huge engine compartments, so you can fit pretty much ANY big block in there.
Yep! It will bolt right in. The Chevelle was designed to handle the big block from day one. Externally, the 572 is virtually the same as a 396, it just has a slightly taller deck height because it is based on the 427 truck block. It will be a little taller and wider than a 396, but it will still bolt right in.
the big block will bolt right to the small block motor mounts but they do make big block motor mounts that you can buy and install on the 66, it lets the engine sit a little lower and further to the drivers side.

yes it could have if it was a big block car or someone installed it at one time.
The 70 LS6 Chevelle with the 454 big block was rated at 450 horse power but at the dragstrip, with only mods to prevent body tweaking, it put out closer to 480 HP.
