Chevy didn't offer a 350 in an 86 Camaro, but if they did, it would theoretically work in an 87 Caprice.
Its inside the fuel tank. You can either drop the tank and pull it out or cut a hole through the back deck lid. That's what i would do.

Answerwith a little modification it will but no it won't bolt up to the 96 engine and besides the 96 had a stronger transmission then the 86.
i have the same problem, the radiator is installed at a slant... so there's not much room to play around.
