I have a 1999 Ford Expedition with a 5.4 liter engine...I just looked in the owners manual and it reads 6 quarts, but I use 6.5 quarts to have the oil on the higher side of normal.. Just do not exceed the maximum level on your dipstick.. It could cause front and rear main seal damage and cause leaks, so use 6 quarts, start the engine, let the oil level rise on the guage, stop the motor, wait a minute, then check the level on the dipstick, if it's on the low side of normal, add 1 pint, if not, your done...One more thing.. When replacing the oil filter on the 1999 Expedition. It's located on the driver's side behind the front bumper on the frame..It's very easy to remove and clean the area and make sure the old rubber gasket from the old oil filter did not stick to the oil filter base on the frame.
