I think what your talking about is you final drive gears. They are in your differential. You also have a gears in your transmission.
Is it an automatic or standard? automatic and fluid is not pumping when engine is running
your transmission could be stuck between gears. you probably need to rebuild or replace the transmission.
You are doing something wrong.. TAke it to the trans shop.
A five speed manual transmission was optional on third generation (1982 - 1992) and fourth generation (1993 - 2002) Camaros.
You can go to your local Chevrolet dealership and pick one up for a price. Just a couple of bucks and you can old a reproduction of the original owner's manual.
If thay are both 1/2 tons then thay will have a 4L60E automatic transmission in them.The 3/4 tons used the 4L80E.
It is bolted to the valve body in the bottom of the Transmission. Need to remove trans pan to service them.
