∙ 12y agoThe three speed does have a hydraulic governor in the transmission. The four speed does not.
If the PRNDL indicator is electronic, it is a 4 speed
transmission/ transfer case
the speed sensor senses the speed and tells your transmission when to shift , it also controls your speedometer.
It measures the speed of the output gear of the transmission. It is used for shift timing.
On the four speed automatic, it is inside the transmission on the valve body. On the three speed, it is on the front of the transmission case.
It measures the speed of the transmission input shaft. The transmission computer uses this info for shift timing.
A 1994 Plymouth Sundance/Duster does not use a speedometer cable. Instead, it uses a Speed Sensor located on the transmission.
The input speed sensor is the two wire sensor on the front of the transmission case closest to the engine.
If it is a three speed transmission, there is an internal failure. If a four speed the computer has detected a malfunction and set a code.
it is on the back of the transaxle of the transmission its an oval piece with a two part wire going into it.
it had to be ordered other wise it was automatic
