It should last the lifetime of the engine. I have a 98 S10 2.2L, the engine has never been opened up with 175K and counting.
The 3.8 liter V6 engine in a 1991 Mercury Cougar has a timing CHAIN
Should be changed around every 100,000 miles.
the 09 dodge has an okay engine don't get the 10-11 years because the older dodges have the 5.9 liter the new dodges have the 6.7 liter and they don't last as long as the 5.9.
Until you turn off the engine...
300,000
A timing chain normally will last as long as the engine. Signs of a failing timing chain are chain noise and or engine that continues to jump time.
There is no real answer to this question. They can last the life of the engine or may possible give trouble at above 100,000 miles. Normally they last until the engine needs an overhaul. The chain will warn you when it is getting ready to fail. It will become noisy and the engine will be hard to keep in time.
Long Enough
With proper use and maintenance and repair I have seen 300,000 with no rebuild needed. In the f-350 ford the truck will not last this long
I have a 2006 Chevrolet Impala I bought used for $5500 and it has 92,000 miles on it. How long will this car last?
That depends on the engine size.
