∙ 10y agoTo test a crankshaft position sensor on a 1996 Jimmy Blazer, use a CKP sensor to test for voltage output. Compare the results to manufacturer specifications.
ohm test it.
A computer diagnostic test will generally tell you if you have a faulty crankshaft position sensor.
To test a 1995 Cavalier crank sensor you would need to get a mechanic's computer. They can put a sensor/fuse tester on it and see if it is working properly.
With sensor removed the business end should be magnetic. While the sensor is disconnected and removed, probe the two pins for resistance with an ohm meter. The circuit should not be open.
purchase an actron sensor tester for about $40 and follow the directions
Probably not as the emissions test (Smog test) is carried out by inserting a sensor into the exhaust pipe.
Sure can...hook it up to a diagnostic and it should bring up a code telling you that the sensor is out.
The crankshaft sensor in your 1990 former Roche is located on the front of the engine. The best way to test your crankshaft sensor is to hook the engine to a Dyno tester.
Crankshaft sensors usually either work or they don't. However, using a vom meter, you can test the resistance of the sensor to see if its working.
To change the crankshaft position sensor of the 1999 Tahoe, you must first disconnect the negative battery ground cable to avoid accidents. Then, remove the wire harness from the sensor, disconnect the wires, and pry out the bolt. Place the new sensor in the same area, replace the bolts, and reconnect the wires. Test the sensor to see if it is working.
Using a scanner with a scope, you can view the output wave of the sensor as you crank the engine.
