Its kind of annoying, first u gotta unscrew a few screws, generally a couple above your gauges and then a couple in lower places like near your headlights switch and near your 12v outlet. then u gotta pry it a bit until the dash pops out and pry it up on top of your steering column. this is where i had trouble. you then have to pop the shifter a few gears lower then park, or else it will block the dash from coming off. once you get it in 2-1 (what i had it in) you can then remove the dash fairly easily, with no damage to anything.

It could be the gas cap is not on properly. So take it off and put back on but then it still takes a day or 2 for the icon to go away
There are four screws around where the speedo display is, and another screw inside the compartment below the radio. Having removed these, the dashboard pulls off. Fairly easy.
To Take off the dashboard all you have to do is unscrew it with the screwdriver that looks like this * it's not a X it's for the inside of a car, that will help u unscrew it then just pull on it till it comes off. there will be about 8-9 that u have to take off and when pulling on the dashboard dont be afrade to pull a little it wont be a walk in the park to get off.
Their are screws at the bottom of the dashboard start from the driver side and go right their mite be about 6 screws

There is a wire hook up under the truck on the passenger side by the transmission. Could have popped off. I lifted my truck and refused to lengthen the wire, so from time to time is slips off.
The dashboard has eight retaining clips. Take a flat head route driver and probably up on each individual retaining clip. The dashboard will come off.
