You don't reset an Oil Light. If the light stays on, it indicates LOW OIL PRESSURE. Serious engine damage will occur if you continue to run the engine in this condition, unless the problem is a defective oil pressure sending unit. Actually on newer vehicles, you can reset the "change oil" light! Different vehicles may have different ways of resetting the light. However, I use to work at an oil changing station for 3 years. The way we reset the oil change light on "most" Chevy's is to : Turn the key so just the accessories lights are on, then pump the gas pedal 3 times. Turn the key to the off position and then start your vehicle. Watch the message center, if you did this the right way, it should reset your "change oil" light. Don't worry about "flooding" your engine. It's fuel injected these days, I always had customers look at me like I was crazy to have them pump the gas...it's not the 80's anymore. Your vehicle will be fine!
