1.Put ignition key in Run position but keep the engine off 2. repeatedly push the trip/reset button until OIL is displayed on the driver info center 3. When OIL is displayed, push and hold the trip/reset button for 5 seconds. The number will disappear and be replaced by 100 ( meaning 100% oil life ) 4. Turn the key off If change engine oil message is still on it hasn't reset. Try the procedure again.
Pontiac does not use inertia/reset switches.

The check engine light has nothing to do with an oil change. The check engine light is reset with a scan tool after repairing the failure that caused it.

No problem, if it's like my 2001 Montana. Just press your mileage trip button until you get to the 'oil' reading. Then, just press on same button and hold for a few seconds. It should go back to 100 (fresh oil).
