The module is located on the front L/H side of the engine compartment. It has one connector on the front side of it. To get access you must take off the L/H head light housing. With that removed you can get a 5/16 socket on the connector. There is hole cut for the socket. You should be able to remove it then. Putting it back on, you will have to remove the back side of the connector. There are 4 tabs, just pull them out two at a time ( each side) and pull on the back side of the connector. With the connector off you can see where the control module goes, if you replace it you will still have to take it to a transmission shop so they can program it. Before you replace it, make sure there is no water in the connector. I found some on my car.
It controls the operation of the transmission.
You may need to replace the power control module.
find the wiper fluid fill and fuse panel, you will see the power control module, and transmission control module, bolted together, normally gray in color, all wires lead to the boxes, so it cant be hard to find
It's Located to the right of battery behind windshield wiper tank.
The PCM is the powertrain control module ( engine computer ). There are also abs, airbag, transmission, body, cluster, and HVAC computers on a 2001 Intrepid.
The 2004 Dodge Intrepid PCM power control module can be found on the firewall in the engine compartment. The PCM power control module will be on the passenger side of the firewall.
The transmission is controlled by the engine computer. It can be replaced.

The 1998 Cadillac transmission control module can be found on the side of the transmission. The module will be on the right hand side of the transmission, near the back.
The transmission control module is mounted under the dash. It is on the driver's side, beside the ECM module.
