I am not completely familiar with the Taurus, but if you follow the top radiator hose (thick one) back to the engine block, the housing should be located at the point where this hose meets the block. The thermostat is located here inside the Thermostat Housing.

locate the top radiator hose and follow it to the motor, unbolt the housing it is connected to and remove the old thermostat replace it and put it back together
stand at the front of the car and look for the top rad hose and follow it to the end there should be two bolts holding the hosing unbolt and replace the thermostat and gasket

The thermostat is located underneath the radiator hose where it connects to the engine. The thermostat regulates the engine's temperature.
unscrew take old out, drop new in with gasket put baqck screws IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO CHANGE A THERMOSTAT, LEAVE YOUR HOOD CLOSED!
