follow the upper rad hose from the rad to the engine and at the engine there is a housing that has the thermostat in it. When you put the new one in, make sure the spring is toward the engine.
Note: the anti-freeze is going to leak all over the engine once you take the top radiatior tube off the block connection. On the lower left (while standing in front of the truck, passenger side) there is a drain nozzel. It has a small spicket for attaching a tube.
Attach a tube, and have a drain pan on the ground for the tube to drain into. Turn the "wing nut" on the spicket to start draining the anti-freeze. You do not have to drain the entire radiator, just enough so that the level is below the thermostat -which is hard to tell unless you remove the tube to the engine block to see where the leval is.
It is a slow drain, but about 2 gallons out of the system should bring the leval lower than the therm.

Find the thermostat at the engine end of the upper rad hose. When you replace it , make sure the spring goes toward the engine.
There isn't a carburetor , it's fuel injected
This is a 15 year old vehicle. The thermostat is very cheap insurance. Just replace it when performing a cooling system service. Replace it by removing the old thermostat, carefully cleaning off the old gasket. Install the new gasket & thermostat, spring toward engine block, and tighten to factory specs, and no more.
should be located by the thermostat housing on front of engine block
