To change the head lamps, you will need to remove the headlight assembly. Each assembly is held in place by two plastic retainer clips. I've added a link to a picture of them to the right. After you remove those clips, the headlight assembly can be removed so that you can access the bulbs. Once you have access to the bulbs, simply disconnect the wiring harness, and rotate the bulb counter-clockwise to release it from the assembly. Installation of the new bulb is the removal procedure is reverse order. Take care to make sure that everything is lined up properly when reinstalling everything. A couple common mistakes are; not getting all three tabs of the bulb into the assembly, and not placing the assembly back into the groove properly. If you notice that your beam pattern has changed, be sure to check these 2 things.

See the Related Link "Picture of retainer clips" below for a picture of the clips.

AnswerThis is actually much easier than one would think and should take you three minutes per bulb:

It goes without saying, if the lamp assembly to be worked on is on the passenger side, the battery must first be disconnected and removed.

First, open your car hood, then right behind the headlight unit, you will notice two clips per side, they are long and straight with a hooked end. Using the hooked end, just lift the clip up and move it away from the headlight, the left (when facing the front) clip will be between the headlight and the battery cover.

After taking out the clips, the headlight will be loose from the car.

Once the two pull tabs are removed, the entire headlamp assembly will be loose in its frame. With a little bit of work, the headlamp assembly can be freed by pulling towards you. There is enough slack in the wires to the bulbs to allow this to happen.

Once the assembly is free from the frame and in your hands, look behind the headlight and you will see the wires running into the actual light to the bulb. What you would do is twist the light out (I believe counter clockwise) and the bulb will come out with its mount. Then unclip the bulb from the mount. Then just put on the new bulb and make sure the sides clip into the mount.

Then carefully put the mount and bulb back into the headlight unit and then twist it in clockwise, you will feel it go in properly, if not lined up properly, it will not be smooth and won't stay in place.

Then put the headlight unit back into place, and secure it back to the car with the clips you removed. When returning the headlamp assembly to its frame, watch carefully, it goes in then - must be pushed down about 1/4 inch to properly seat. Compair the headlamp position to the opposite side handlamp to insure that it is properly seated.

Note: Make sure not to touch the actual glass of the new bulbs as this will make them last a shorter period of time.
