There appears to be two headlight fixtures for the 2005 Malibu. The fourth character of the VIN, for my vehicle, is "N". To remove the headlight assembly pull up the two plastic, rounded corner, square tabs, about 3/4 inch sq., located on the far side of the fixture, next to the parking lamp and between the high beam (center) and low beam (towards fender) lamps. If you can't pull them up by hand use a large flat blade screwdriver and pry them being very careful not to break the plastic. The Lamp holders twist about 1/8 turn to remove. The bulb fixture is held in place by a single tab and may need a little pry to start the removal process. DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS ON THE BULB. if you do expect to replace the bulb again soon. After replacing a bulb carefully aligning the fixture with the two ball shaped mounting tabs. Push the tabs down when fully inserted.
See sources and related links below for bulb information.
You will need to take the complete headlight assembly loose or out to get to the bulb to change it.
there are two screws holding the light assembly to the car. Remove the two and replace after removing headlight
Open the hood and then examine the top of the headlight assembly and locate the two pins that can be pulled up and out of the assembly. Then rotate the headlight Assembly out of the front of the grille and change the headlight bulb...reverse the process
I've got a better question, why is this question in the Chevy venture forum ?

you have to remove the two screws on top of the headlight assembly then you have to reach under the headlight between the headlight and the bumper and pull it out.i'd use a piece of cloth to cover the chrome on the bumper this vaw you don't scratch it.once you pull out the assembly then unplug it and change the bulbs you want..

what is the labor time to replace a transmissian in a 2005 chevy malibu 2.2l eco
To replace the front turn signal bulb in a 2005 Montana, you have to access it from the engine compartment. Undo the front headlight assembly as per the instructions noted elsewhere. There is one screw (machine Head) on the outboard side of the headlight assembly, and one 'thumb screw' on the inner side to the assembly. I found it difficult to remove the headlight assembly, and I have found you don't have to. (You can break the housing, so don't try taking it right out) Just loosen it enough to get your hand behind the assembly. I would also suggest you remove the plastic fasteners from the top of the front bezel in order to make loosening the headlight assembly easier, and to prevent the possibility of damaging or breaking the front bezel. The plastic fasteners are easily removed with just a pair of pliers. Once the headlight assembly has been moved forward slightly, you can get your hand down the opening, and feel for the turn signal lamp assembly. Twist to remove. There is enough wire in the harness to bring the lamp assembly to 'the surface' where you can replace the bulb easily. Replace bulb and test. After testing, replace headlight, and then plastic fasteners at the top of the front bezel.
how to replace ac hose assembly on 2005 jeep liberty
This just isn't something that you want to do. Remove engine shroud, grill, bumper on the side that you're working on, inner fender fasteners - then you can get to the 4 bolts that hold the headlight assembly in. Did it yesterday - won't do it again. 5 hours :-(
