If you don't know where the oil dipstick is this is not for YOU! you must remove the metal guard plate that SHARES the same 4 bolts that holds the tank in place. unscrew the hose 5/16 clamp w/ crescent that is connected to 1 1/2 hose from top of tank to gas spout you must use extreme caution not to break or tear old dry rotted fuel lines unclamp 2 electrical wires, 1 tension clamp need small pliers, and one 1/4" hose clamp, 4 #2 Phillips screws hold the pump in place "be gentle" AND it would speed things up later if you mark things. i recommend using a jack stand in middle of tank for support and drink a BEER as a cigarette replacement, it cant hurt! the tank will be off by now, get the used or rebuilt tank and just take only what u have to apart and put back in the order u disconnect everything. To avoid mass confusion and more than 20 cuss words keep it at a 6 pack.

I ,love and hate my sidekick because it is unique, it can be fun to screw around and work on it tune it up and add on, but it had some bad designing on parts like 5 speed clutch cable, front grill, headlight assembly to name a few.

so take routine maintenance seriously.
