mounted to the firewall behind the radio
It doesn't have a GEM it has a VSM located on th efirewall directly behind the radio. Take out radio and remove lower dash assembly and then you can get to it. You will still have to go to dealer for programming.
Center of the dash, below the radio, on firewall, behind the white insaulation. It has three sets of wires plugged into it. It is hard to find but it's there.
it should be located above the fuse box on the passenger side. It is under a panel on the passenger side under the dash. I think it has about 3 connectors going into it.
If you don't have the card that came with your Expy, and don't want to pay the Ford dealer, I found easy way to retrieve it. Using an electronic video scope. 1) Open the glove box. 2) squeeze side of glove box to let it fall away. 3) Using an electronic video scope, go up and back into the A pillar, where the VSM vehicle security module is mounted. Look for a 5 digit code. That will be the factory unlock code. You will know it when you see it, it is larger that normal print on the side of the VSM.

Unless you actually served in Viet Nam you are not a Viet Nam Veteran. You are considered a Veteran. I served from 1964-1967 and never was sent to Viet Nam, but was sent to Germany. I am a Veteran but not a Viet Nam Veteran.Additional infoVietnam vets are vets that served from 1964 to 1975 and received the Vietnam Service Metal (VSM ). The military had regulations covering who received the VSM. So since you did not serve during those dates, you would not be eligible for the VSM and therefore not considered a Vietnam Veteran. (If you had served anytime from 1964 to 1975 and had not received the VSM, you would be referred to as a Vietnam Era Veteran.
Expeditionary Medals were awarded prior to the arrival of the VSM in '65.
Vietnam Service Medal- The AFM is the Air Force Manual 900-3 which authorizes the award.
Open the right/rear door. Gently pull the on-body weatherstrip slightly away from the body at the rear side of the door opening. Fold and lock the right/rear seat back down into the locked position. Carefully pull the trim panel that houses the seat belt height adjuster and anchor pivot off of the body. Now carefully pull the lower trim panel from the inside outward far enough to expose the VSM (Vehicle Security Module). This module has three electrical connectors plugged into it, coloured green, grey and blue. On the module is a label bearing a number similar to 4L2T-15K602-EA. On the same label will be FIVE large numbers. Those five numbers are your five digit keyless entry keypad code.
