You have to remove the engine and get freeze plugs pressed in. If you use a rubber plug which have a brass face and bolt in. Remember that they are a temporary fix and will come out if your engine over pressureizes.
I believe there are 8 to 10 freeze plugs on every engine.
Replace freeze plug in a 1998 ford windstar ?
How do you replace freeze plug 1999 Ford Taurus?
You remove the engine block
Remove the instrument cluster.
The freeze plug on a 1998 Ford Taurus is located on the front of the engine block. It prevents the engine from cracking should the coolant freeze.
I cannot direct you how - however, I can say I had my freeze out plug go (and there are four) on my 1998 Ford Taurus. They are easy to replace as my mechanic said; however, in my car - due to the location - behind engine - the trans had to be removed. I got 3 quotes ranging from $750 - $1300. Might as well service the trans at that point as well and replace the other plugs.
how do I replace a parking lamp (left) on a 1996 Ford Taurus
I'm not a mechanic / technician but as far as I know , the answer would be NO The Ford 4.0 liter OHV engine in the Ford Explorer used ( 3 ) different engine blocks ( 1991 to 1994 ) ( 1995 and 1996 ) ( 1997 to 2000 )
If one is rusted you might as well replace them all and that requires removal of the engine
No , the 4.0 L V6 engine in a 1996 Ford Explorer is an OHV not a SOHC
