First disconnect the battery posts-- then remove the wires from the alternator-- some have a plug in and a large amperage or "charge wire" will bolt on a post --- then loosen the belt-- use the slack adjuster-- slide off the belt from the pulley-- remove all the bolts holding the alternator onto the engine-- replace with new unit in reverse order-- BE DARN SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT BATTERY CABLE TO THE NEGATIVE POST FIRST THEN TO THE POSITIVE POST-- if the battery was low on voltage prior to the alternator being replaced you should charge it on the "bench" before installing it back in the car
