2. Remove the belt by putting a 3/8 inch drive ratchet in to the tensioner and pulling it counter clock wise. You will see what I mean when you look at it. Remove the two bolts holding alternator in. You will need a pry bar or large screwdriver to pry it out of the bracket.
3. Unplug plug that goes into the back. Remove battery wire attached to alternator. On the bracket that the alternator is mounted to will be a bushing for each bolt. Tape them towards the front with a hammer, that will make it easier to install new alternator.
4. Attach battery wire to new alternator. Make sure to not over tighten wire and spin the stud that it goes on. Plug in plug, put back into bracket on engine. Insert bolts, tighten bolts, install belt.
5. Once you have the belt on, make sure it is on all of the pulleys correctly, not half on, half off. Hook up negative battery cable.
6. If battery is not fully charged, meaning vehicle will not start on its own, no jump starting, let the battery charge some more until it will start without a jump. If you jump start it, you are making the new alternator work very hard.
7. If vehicle will start without a jump, start it up. Check to make sure belt is running smoothly, reprogram clock and radio stations.
