for 3. 5L 4 cyl. Remove front passenger side tire and take off inside fender shroud--a real pain, but after that just find the tensioner and ease it off and slip on the new belt. It's easier replacing the shroud but you'll probably wreck the plastic studs on removal and have to buy new ones. It's easy but takes time.
there should be a tensioner pully. Put the 3/8 ratchet in the center of it and turn.
Draw a scetch of the belt path first first. Remove the 4 bolt pully that will not allow the removal of the belt. Install new belt and replace pully.
The belt is bad if it has 3 cracks per square inch.
You probably have a bad serpentine belt and tensioner.
You don't - it is a serpentine belt with an automatic tensioner.
Serepentine bels do not have tension adjustments, there is a tension pully That is preloaded with a coil spring in it. If the belt is loose, the pully spring may have lost it tension. Replace the pully assembley.
first you should release the belt tension pully and remove the belt. Then the idler pully has a bolt through the center remove the bolt and the pully should come off.
The 2003 Chevy Malibu does not have a timing belt. It has a chain which should last the life of the engine.
I had the same chirping noise. My chriping was the belt and/or the power steering pump. I replaced both. no noise now. I would first replace the belt, then the pump
get a 1/2 drive rachet and a socket that fits the tentioner pully hand pull the pully to slack the belt pull the belt off and let the pully back in placethen you can loosen the nut ans tap the pully off if needed
make sure you have a belt routing label attached to under side of hood.in the center of engine behind the fan there is a belt tentioner pully should be 15mm take a socket and braker bar turn the pully bolt to the right remove&replace belt very easy.
The Chevrolet S10 doesn't have a timing belt.
