Unfortunately, you have to completely replace whatever component it is which has the burnt-out bulb(s) in it, be it the instrument cluster, the radio, the HVAC control panel, the driver information center buttons, or the radio/cruise control switches in the steering wheel. No, I am NOT joking! I just purchased a 2001 Lesabre and am in the process of disassembling all of the components in the dash and replacing the bulbs myself (I am an electrical engineer and have the skills and equipment to do so, which I realize is not typical). The light bulbs are SOLDERED onto the circuit boards in every case. It is inexcusable that GM eliminated the twist-out bulb sockets which have been used in instrument clusters and other dash-mounted equipment for decades now, just to save a buck or two per vehicle. And to add insult to injury, all of these lights are on all the time as part of the daytime running lights, so that significantly shortens their life. Don't believe me? Call the parts counter at your local GM dealer and ask them for a bulb for your instrument cluster. They don't have one available. I am a big supporter of American-made cars, but with idiotic design decisions such as this one, they deserve to go out of business. Cars are now designed just like computers--they are meant to be used for 4-5 years and then discarded for a new one.
