Remove wheel, Remove drum or disc brake rotor, remove rear differental cover. Remove shaft between the spider gears that is held in by a lock bolt. Shove the axle from the outside toward the differential and remove the "C" clips that hold the axle in inside the diff. and then the axle can be removed.
To remove the axle shaft, first remove the wheel, and brake drum/rotor. Second, remove the differental cover. Third, remove the bolt holding the spider gear shaft, and remove that shaft. Fourth push inward on the axle shaft to remove the horseshoe clip on the inside. The axle shaft will now pull out.
Camshaft gears are the gears that drive shaft that operates the cams.
it should come out easily. push the offending axle inward so you can see the retaining clip and remove it. then pull the axle out of the housing. repeat on other side. you have to remove the "spider" shaft first or the axles cannot be pushed inward (it is in the way) Often, the spider shaft is held in with a little screw that has an elongated point or shaft. remove it completely and the spider shaft should slide out. the do the axles.
Why would youwant a vehicle manufactured by a corporation that, due to their shoddy designs, ultimately found themselves in Bankruptcy?Dump it. wow! informative answer Einstein, next time you post an answer make sure it is correct, you really missed the boat on this one! Remove diff cover and look for small bolt with 5/16" or 7mm head holding cross shaft in gear carrier. Remove bolt, then remove cross shaft, be very careful not to spin spider gears out of carrier when cross shaft is out. Also be careful to look for and not lose shims between spider gears and gear carrier. Push axle that you want to remove all the way in and look at inner end of axle (inside of gear carrier) you will see a c-clip. Spin c-clip off with small screwdriver (pocket screwdriver size) and pull axle out. Install in reverse order.

You have to open the differential and remove the retaining pin from the spider gear to remove the axle shaft.
The differential (rearend) is what your back wheels and drive shaft are bolted to. If you have a 4 wheel drive there is one at the front as well. The differential has a series of gears ( spider gears ) inside. This allows for the difference of the speed between the left and right wheels when turning corners or going over bumps ect.
Remove 10 bolts holding rear cover. Rotate ring gear till you find 3/8 hex bolt on side of ring gear carrier. Removal of this bolt will allow you to remove spider gear cross shaft. [Spyder gears are 4 small gears in ring gear carrier,DO NOT REMOVE SPYDER GEARS!] Now push in axle that you want to replace and remove large c-clip that holds axle in. When reassembling you must use Loc-Tite on 3/8 hex bolt.
The raised part of a shaft is called a key. It is used to connect the shaft to other rotating components like gears, pulleys, or sprockets. Keys prevent the relative motion between the shaft and the connected component.
It keeps the spider gears spread apart , to mesh to the Differential output shaft gears ( 2) , one on each side of of the spider gear set , inside the Differential Housing . What I was trying to find was a Modification to a Traxxas Rustler / Nitro Sport Diff , that you took a longer pin and cut it just a small bit longer , which in turn , is suppose to force the spider gear teeth ( further ) into the Diff output shaft , gear teeth , for better tooth contact area , hence .... less gear tooth breakage .....maybe last longer also.
A Reverse Shaft is the shaft which rotates in the opposite direction of the engine driver shaft with the help of meshing of gears mounted on it to the gears mounted on engine driver shaft when reverse gear is applied. The reverse shaft allows the vehicle to move in reverse direction. Sanjay Singh Rathore (ME 3rd year) M.I.T.Mandsaur
