I'm not sure if you have to remove the fan shroud, look at it, to see.Put a square stemmed screwdriver between the bolts and loosen the other one, relocate the screwdriver until all bolts are loosened then remove the bolts.Sometimes the fan is still stuck on the water pump and must be tapped off, careful, don't want to damage your radiator. Need to know how to remove heater fan on 1999 ford e 150 van with small v6 engine
how do i take the fan cluch off a 89 ford ranger yo replace
You need to rent or buy a fan clutch removal tool kit. you need to remove the fan and clutch as one before you can separate the fan from the clutch.
Some vans don't hav a fan clutch but electric fans. If yours does have one, simply remove the 4 bolts holding the fan on then take the bolts out of the clutch. If it has just one big nut a special tool is required.
your fan does not come on unless your car gets hot.if you lift your hood when you start your car the fan will not be running .but when your car gets to hot it will come on.or you may have a short in it.....check out
When the clutch fan locks up it makes a sound like a propeller on a airplane and the more you rev the engine the louder it gets.
Remove the fan itself then remove the clutch from the fan
The wench will be used to remove the clutch fan nut. Remove the nuts holding the fan then remove the fan blade.
They make a special wrench to remove the fan. If you are going to replace the water pump then you can use a long chisel and hamer to strack the fan nut to loosen it up. And then spen it off. When you put it back on, tighten it by hand. Then hit it easy with hammer and chisel to tighten it a little. Do not hit it hard or you will damage the new pump. When you start the engine, It will tighten itself by the force of the engine turning the fan. TRUST ME.

Well, I looked for this information all over the internet today and finally broke down and bought a Chilton's manual. It says to locate the heater fan assembly just below the dash on the passenger side and there will be a section that just houses the fan itself. That is what you must remove. You will unplug the fan (2 connectors at the top of the assembly), then remove screws that surround the fan assembly, disconnect the rod from the heat mixture lever (near kick panel on right), and remove the assembly. Then you need to open the hood and remove the 2 heater hoses (there will be leakage if you don't drain the antifreeze first). Go back in the cab and pull the heater core free.
remove the fan clutch and fan first
