first, remove the old thermostat, then...........................install the new one
Drain the radiator. Remove the clamp on the top hose of the radiator at the engine. Remove the bolts holding the housing. Remove the thermostat and clean the surface. Install the new thermostat and reverse the procedure from there.

Drain the cooling system. 3. Remove the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolts. 4. Remove the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe. 5. Remove the thermostat. Installation Procedure 1. Install the thermostat. 2. Install the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. 3. Install the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolt. ^ Tighten the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolt to 10 Nm (18 inch lbs.). 4. If equipped with an automatic transmission, install the exhaust manifold. 5. Fill the cooling system.
Drain the water from the cooling system. Remove the radiator hose from the thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new thermostat.
Drain the radiator into a container. Remove the top radiator hose at the engine. Remove the 2 bolts holding the thermostat housing and remove the thermostat. Clean both surfaces and install the new thermostat. Reinstall the upper radiator hose and the coolant.

Clean the mating surfaces of the radiator outlet and the radiator outlet pipe.To install:1. Install the thermostat.2. Install the thermostat outlet and bolts.3. Install the coolant outlet attaching bolts and tighten the thermostat outlet bolts to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).4. Install the lower radiator hose to thermostat outlet.5. Fill the cooling system.6. Inspect for leaks.
Partially drain the radiator down . Remove the upper radiator hose at the engine end. The housing is where the thermostat is located. Remove the two bolts and clean Both surfaces. Install the new thermostat.
Drain the radiator down 1/2 way. At the engine end of the top radiator hose is the thermostat housing. Remove the housing and install a new thermostat.
Drain the radiator in a container. Remove the top radiator hose from the engine. That is the thermostat housing. Remove the 2 bolts and the housing. Remove the thermostat and clean the surfaces where the housing mates to the intake. Install the new thermostat and housing with the 2 bolts. Reinstall the upper hose and refill the radiator.
It is located at the engine end of the upper radiator hose. To replace it partially drain the radiator into a container. Remove the hose from the housing and remove the 2 bolts. Lift the housing and remove the thermostat. Clean both surfaces and install the new thermostat. Install the 2 bolts and upper radiator hose. Refill the radiator to the top and then top off the reservior.jd
Not sure which engine you have, but for the 4.0 just drain the system, unbolt the thermostat housing from the engine ( right where the upper radiator hose meets the motor ) remove the old thermostat ( pay attention to how it is positioned ) remove all old gasket material, apply water resistant rtv to both sides of new gasket, install new thermostat, install thermostat housing, bolt on tight.
