(1) Locate the fuel pump electrical connection and disconnect it. (2) Start the engine and let it run until it stalls for lack of fuel (3) Unscrew the fuel filler cap to relieve any pressure in the tank (4) Relieve any remaining pressure in the system by placing a shop rag around the fuel line fitting at the top of the filter housing and slowly opening the fuel line fitting, allowiing the fuel to completely stop flowing.
There is a "banjo" nut on the top of the filter housing, place a rag over it and loosen it gradually to bleed off the pressure.
schrader valve on fuel rail
Look for a Schrader valve on the fuel rail and press it to relieve pressure. If there is not one remove the fuel cap and then be prepared for a small spray of fuel when you disconnect the filter. Place a rag around the connection before disconnecting it.
Just put a rag over the connection and break the connection and let the rag absorb the fuel.
Remove the gas cap and that will relieve pressure in the tank. There is a Schroeder valve on the fuel injector rail. Use that to relieve pressure at the injectors.
should be mounted on fire wall, passenger side, REMEMBER TO RELIEVE FUEL PRESSURE FIRST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Relieve the fuel pump pressure. Remove the fuel tank and on the top is the fuel pump module. Remove the module and replace with a new one.
The fuel filter is in the engine bay bolted to the firewall, right about the mid point at the top. It's black and round mounted in a bracket. There's a banjo nut on the top held on by a 17mm bolt. Be sure to relieve fuel pressure before removing.
what is the fuel tank capacity of 1999 honda civic
Near the rear of the vehicle up near the gas tank; RELIEVE FUEL PRESSURE FIRST BEFORE REMOVING THE FILTER!!!
with the ignition switch OFF, break the fuel lines loose slowly. there may be some fuel leak out, but that is normal.
You don't. Just make sure the key is not on (best to not have it in the ignition at all) When you loosen the fuel filter, the pressure will relieve by leaking on the ground. Expect less than a half cup of fuel to leak out from pressure. The remainder fuel will be from inside the filter housing. Get ready to get your hands soaked in gasoline. Dont listen to that guy. You can relieve the gas pressure by simply open your gas cap and leave if off the entire time when you're working on your fuel filter. Some fuel will still leaks out from the fuel filter but at least it's not going to spray on your face.
