You can refill your 1986 Toyota Corolla power steering fluid through the power steering reservoir. The power steering reservoir will be on the left-hand side of the engine.
Do not run the engine. You need to drain out the fluid antifreeze mixture. You can then refill the power steering fluid.
passenger side of engine, next to the power steering reservoir
Disconnect the return line (from the steering rack) at the power steering fluid reservoir. Place it in a drain pan. Run the engine while pouring the new fluid into the reservoir. After the new fluid starts coming out of the hose, shut off the engine, reconnect the hose and refill the reservoir.
Fill the pump reservoir to the recommended level. Start the engine and rotate the steering wheel left and right fully several times. Now refill the pump reservoir to the recommended level. Done!
have a repair shop flush the system and refill with the proper fluid.
The fluid reservoir should be built onto the power steering pump. There will be a cap on top to fill through.
The power steering reservoir is right in front on the engine, just take the cap off and there is a stick gauge on the cap that shows where the proper level is when hot and when cold, just pour the fluid into the reservoir.
it is on the right hand side of the car next to the power steering reservoir. and the line runs against the right fender.
The Power Steering Pump & Reservoir is somewhat beside and below the Alternator, by the Firewall on the Passenger's Side. Remove Cap and check fluid level. Refill with a long neck funnel if required. A roll of paper towel might be usefull at cleaning up the mess.....
With the engine running at idle, turn the steering wheel ALL the way to the right. Then ALL the way to the left. Do this a couple of times to get all the air our of the hoses. Refill the reservoir as needed.
Drain the coolant reserve chamber and refill with new coolant. Can use a turkey baster ot remove hose from chamber.
