Not a DIY job. If it needs recharging then that means it has a leak. Take it to a professional and have the leak fixed and the system checked and recharged. If you are dead set to get it done youself buy yourself two bottles of R-134a and a sort of pipe, that should come with a gauge, that at one end screws into the bottle while the other end should plug into the low port of your A/C, impossible to mess up will only fit low port, then just use the R-134a to refill your system, your car should be on and the blower on max.
