You do not have to but it will be very good if you place a die-electric grease on points where ignition wires contact spark plugs and distributor/coil pack.

Go to auto parts store and buy new spark plug wires. Arrange new wires, longest to shortet. Starting with the longest ones, remove old plug wires one at a time and replace them with matching length new ones. (length can be approximate) Do this until all wires are replaced. note: it's a good idea to get some dielectric grease from your auto parts store and coat both of your new spark plug wires ends before installing. Makes them last longer and also easier tune ups.

Go to any auto parts store and purchase a set of custom fit plug wires for your oldsmobile. Make sure you get custom fit and not the generic. Remove the old plug wires one at a time. Only remove one plug wire at a time or you will get confused. Match the old plug wire with the new one of the same link. Install that plug wire and then move to the next one. Be sure and put a little dielectric grease on the inside of the spark plug boots.
It is recommended to use Nickel Anti-Seize on all spark plugs. It helps you to remove the plug without chance of breakage. I also recommend using some Dielectric grease around the porcelain to prevent heat from making your plug boots from sticking.
Twist them back and forth while pulling off. Use a dielectric grease when putting them back on. That will save you problems later.
