No, pulling the transmission is not required.
Remove tire/caliper/rotor/tie rod/ball joint/pull steering arm back/ pull cv axle back towards diff and remove from steering arm/then just pull it straight out ofintermdiate shaft/thats it/ do the reverse for install/ just did it on my truck twice/PEACE
take the wheel off take brake caliper off take spindal nut off pull axle out. I had to burn my old u joint out with a torch and I have a 2001 1500. I hope that helps you.
it isn't fun to pull the cover it is tight the easiest is to get some type of small hand pump and suck it out
yes
Mine does! i have a 5.7L hemi in a 2003 dodge ram 1500 shortbed.
Really not that bad to do. Order of removal remove wheel remove brake/ brake assy/caliper remove wheel bearing OR remove ball joint/tie rod and move spindle out of way to be able to pull axle out pull u-joint and axle out replace u joints assy is reverse of removal
Pull the gas tank and replace the pump.
remove wheel, disconnect tie rod end, separate lower ball joint from control arm, remove axle nut, slide hub off axle, pull axle from transaxle housing
pull the wheel, caliper, and rotor , on the back of the hub there are 3 bolts remove and the hub and axle will slide out. Very easy to do, should only take 30-45 min your first time. I break a axle everytime i got 4x4, no I'm able to change one in 15-20 min.
Depends on the engine and transmission, and whether or not it is equipped with a towing package
Yes, just stay in recommended towing capacity,
