It must be programed using special equipment like a Tech II, used by dealers.
i have an 02 impala and i recently found out my bcm is bad. I found out that this is located on the left hand side of the steering column.... it should be the same in the 01 since the parts can be swapped in both cars. i hope this helps
Dealer only
NO......only Chevrolet dealer can program control modules, snap-on scanners can only collect data from modules not put data in. some shops other than dealers may have that capability but price wise it would be the same as dealer.
Where is BCM located on 2001Grand Prix
how to use bcm to reset change oil light
Passenger side kick plate
it's a data interface for all the systems in the car that arn't controlled by the engine control module
at the inside fuse box at the back side
The BCM (Body Control Module) of the Passlock system is malfunctioning. It will need to be replaced. I just had it done to my '03 Impala.
The best thing to do is to buy a BCM from the GM dealer and he will programme it for your specific vehicle, in your case a 2001 cavalier. I have the exact car, same year and I also need a new BCM. I'm picking one up at my local GM dealership for about $240Can. that includes the BCM and the programming. Hope this helped, and good luck.
there is a problem with your bcm or body control module, have it checked
