As far as I know there is no way to get the window down other than removing the motor itself. The motor is what holds the window up when closed. Make sure its the motor that has failed. There is also a switch located on the drivers side latch inside the gate that is designed to not allow the window to open when the gate is down. If that switch fails it the window motor will not function at all. I used a wire jumper to bypass the switch and solved my problem.
lower the tailgate, remove the 2 screws on the side when you lower the tailgate, pull assembly out and replace
You can turn the key until just the power is on, and push the down switch to the lower right of the dash, or use a key in the lock on the back of the tailgate (if you have the key).
open tailgate and there will be two screws. upper and lower. upper by the tailgate latch.
How do you lower a stuck tail gate on a 1993 Dodge 250 pickup?
The best way, is to go inside, remove the tailgate's interior trim and moulding. After removing the plastic sheeting, you can then access the regulator (the scissor looking part with the motor). Remove the bolts that hold the regulator. Now very carefully without bending in or out, because you could break the back-light (rear glass), lower the whole assembly down into the tailgate. You may have to jiggle it up and down slightly. When the glass has cleared the frame, pull on the cables that activate the latches. With the help of an assistant on the outside lower the tailgate. Now you can work on the problem with ease. Inspect the regulator, wiring etc. for wear and tear as well as rust.Good luck!
You can correct this size problem. Just open a browser window and resize it manually (not using maximize button). Place the mouse pointer on the lower rigth corner of the window, a resize handle will appear. Click and drag to resize the window to the full size. From now on every browser window you oen will appear in full size. If you find this info useful, please vote!!!
First remove gate support cables. Lower tailgate 1/2 way pull left side toward you. Swing it to the left, and hold tight
Internally its connected to the window motor gear drive. Lower the window and open the door. Remove the 2 panels that cover the door mechanism. Locate the lock and its arm. You will probably see that the plastic clip that holds it in place has either come off or broke. Reinstall or buy a new one as necessary.
On steering column behind lower cover.
You first have to lower the rear window. If the switches don't work you need to remove the carpet covering the tail gate then remove the metal cover from the tail gate. You will need to reach inside and disconnect the window from the arms that raise it so that it can be lowered. once it is lowered you should be able to open the tail gate.
you have to lower the tailgate and then remove the two bolts from the side of the taillights that hold it in.
