This is commonly referred to as the firing order - the sequence that each plug receives the electrical charge at just the right time for the fuel / air to be in the engine cylinder, ready to to be ignited for explosion (the piston at its peak and putting the maximum squeeze on the air / fuel).
To establish the firing order, you need three things:
They're basically all the same on Ford products and easy once you know some of the landmarks.
4 cylinder engines - count straight back, 1 - 2 - 3 - 4
What about 4 and 8 cylinder engines?
1 to 1
2 to 4
3 to 2
4 to 5
5 to 3
6 to 6
On a front wheel drive vehicle, which bank of cylinders is easiest to reach: Bank 1 or Bank 2?
Go forth and good-wrenching!
6 spark plugs
The gap is .052-.056 inches.
Yes, absolutely!See "Related Questions" below for much more about changing Windstar plugs and wires
Do you mean re-gap the plugs? Get a spark plug gapper, and set the gap to between .052-.056.
remove the ignition coils on the intake and they are underneath it. your vehicle has distributorless ignition, therfore there aren't any spark plug wires, instead it has individual ignition coils with the spark plugs directly underneath them.
Actually , it doesn't have one The 3.0 L and 3.8 L - V6 engines in the 2000 Ford Windstar are EDIS ( Electronic Distributorless Ignition System ) and have a rectangular shaped COIL PACK ( Just follow a spark plug wire from a spark plug , the other end plugs into the coil pack )
According to the Autozone website : For a 1995 Ford Windstar , 3.8 L V6 engine : The spark plug tightening torque is ( 7 to 15 foot pounds )
will be either,ignition coil,,or module,,easy to replace
Well the first thing i would check is the battery if the engine is not cranking, if it is cranking the you would probally check the ignition system[spark plugs, spark plug wires, ignition coil] next you would check the fuel lines/injectors/pressure.
( 8 spark plugs ) for your 2001 Ford Ranger 2.5 liter 4 cylinder ( with Fords twin plug ignition system )
Is this a trick question ( as far as I know the last model year of the Ford Windstar was 2003 )
Please check your spark plugs, wires, distributor and rotor or the ignition coil module. My '93 LX has an ignition coil module.
