First put the #1 cylinder at top dead center. Back it off 1 inch. Place the cam shaft sync in the hole and make sure the c shape or the magnatic stem that sticks up is dead center of the sensor slot. and is pointing just to the left of the holdown bolt hole. Make sure that everything is lined up or it wont work well and will make it run bad. If you miss it restab the camshaft sync. When you buy the part at carquest it will come with the istall tool to keep the magnetic shaft straight. They have a arrow on them so use that to point it just to the left of the hole.
