there are a multitude of ways you can increase the power of this motor. you can alter the intake to allow better airflow while at the same time you can alter the exhaust to allow more air flow out if you do both you'll see a good increase in power. those are the cheaper ways. you can also have your ECU upgraded or replaced to alow for more horsepower. after that you can go to modifying the engine itself. you can pull the engeine out take it to a machine shop where they can more it out. or you can replace the heads with the 6.0 liter heads from another Chevy motor. no matter what you do to increase the horsepower you will get worse mileage. I've done all of these things to my truck and i couldn't be happier
v8 because it has more cylinders which means more horsepower, but there are other engines that are more powerful than a v8. they are v10 and v12

The 5.2-liter V8 produces 230 horsepower
The 5.4 liter V8 puts out about 275 horsepower
If its a v8 then it has 425 horsepower.
