really that's not enough information.
but, if your inquiring about a Ford, there is a ignition switch (not to be confused with the key switch) on the top of the column. it is easy to replace and dosent cost alot for the switch.
Steering wheels are generally locked from the ignition switch. It is supposed to lock only in the OFF position. If you steering locks in any other key position, you likely have a problem with the linkage rod or cable that connects the ignition lock cylinder to the steering column. You have to take apart the dash and possibly the steering column to fix this.
What it would cost to fix your steering column depends on what is wrong with it and you did not tell us. The tilt steering column in my 1989 GMC Suburban became loose in the tilt mechanism. I was quoted as much as $125.00 to fix it, but I shopped around and got it repaired for $60.00. Unless your steering column has the same problem that number is probably useless. I would suggest you call several shops and get a quite to fix it.
The steering column has to be replaced. The steering column has to be replaced.
If your shifter is on the steering column, the problem is probably under the dashboard on the steering column. It is an easy fix. remove the panel under the steering column, and spray silicon lubricant on the shift lever that extends out of the column that the shift cable is attached to. 9 times out of 10 this will be the problem. Or, you could follow the other suggestions or have your transmission replaced. but at some point, you will need to lubricate this linkage to fix the problem.
My oldsmobubble's ignition was stuck due to a factory setting of some kind that was starting to malfunction from an electronic short. They said they would have to take apart steering column to fix, etc.$$$$
for that type of cheap car the whole steering column it will run you about 10 to 15 pesos at the most
the steering column tilt and telescoping lock does not keep wheel in place. How do I fix this ?
The key is worn out , u need to try pulling out w/pliers ,use a newer key
The squeaking of a steering column can usually be fixed by adding power steering fluid. It can also be fixed by replacing the belt in the car.
The horn wire going to the steering column is undoughtly shorting out. Have it looked at as the steering wheel has to come off etc.
