the eldorado has an automaatics parking break. as soon as you put the transmission in gear the parking break releases.

Good Chance this is caused by a faulty O2 Sensor. I had the engine light stuck on in my 2002 Montana and replaced rear O2 sensor and it turned it off.
The thermostat is probably stuck in the open position.
The sticking could be the cable running to the wheel or the parts at the wheel could be rusted and stuck. The wheel needs to be removed and the cable tugged by hand and the brake arms moved to see what is binding.
