First, depending on the problem, if the door won't open, it is likely that one or both of the latch springs are broken or out of place. This may be the case if the door became gradually harder to open & close over time. A contributor too this may also be a broken front slide rail stud for the rear roller located after it curves around the body. This would allow the rear of the door to drop just before shutting & the latch to be misaligned enough to damage the latch. Also over time, the lower front roller can become flat-spotted & cause more effort to close the door, thus, more damage. Things to check...latch post for signs of wear, up & down movement in the rear slider rail @ the rear of the sliding door opening, the latch for function (open door & close double latch with screwdriver a then release to see if it's binding) & lower front roller for flat-spotting. Replace any worn parts & realign door. These may be helpful suggestions but may not be applicable to every sliding door problem.
