The fuel pump rod hole is 1/2 and the two drain back holes are 3/8. You might have to finish ream the hole and do something to keep the debris out of the engine unless you have the block apart for cleaning.

Yes it will fit right in there. A small block Chevy is a small block Chevy. The only thing that is different is the fuel system. All small block Chevy engines are the same it does not matter. Chevy did not redesign the engine blocks until late 2000. But in your case the 2 ingines are the same. Put it in there.

Is the rod that pump the gas pump in the motor of 1977 Chevy 350 d same size of the late model 350 engine?

The fuel injected or computer controlled engines do not use a engine mounted fuel pump like the 77 model you have. The fuel injected motors starting in 87 for the trucks have the fuel pumps in the gas tanks.GM still made the fuel injected engines with the side mounted fuel pump mounting assembly but did not drill the fuel pump shaft rod hole. Most machine shops can drill the hole for non fuel injected setups.Hope this helps..
