take plug out and drain the fluid plug found behind drivers side wheel
On a 2000 Mercury Cougar : No , only the automatic transaxle ( transmission ) has a dipstick
There is a drain plug in the transmission pan.
a 95 mercuy cougar takes anywhere from 5 to 7 quarts of transmission fluid
it uses Mercon V at transmission fluid. both automatic and manual transmission
you have to run a mercon 5 fluid or compatiable. If you run regualar mercon in it you will have a transmission chater whenit shifts into overdrive. Make sure you drain your tork converter too.
Dip stick tube
check your owners manual?
Manual transmissions dont use fluid, they use a kind of grease.
On a 1995 Mercury Cougar : The automatic transmission fluid level dipstick is in the engine compartment , near the firewall , towards the passenger side of the engine ( at the rear of the engine where the transmission is bolted to the engine )
On a 2000 Mercury Cougar : The brake fluid reservoir is also the clutch fluid reservoir
I heard that you pour it into the tube that holds the dipstick where you ckeck the transmission fluid. They said use a funnel and pour it in the tube the stick goes in.
