Ford Explorers are either rear wheel drive , 4x4 ( that has a LOW RANGE ) for the transfer case , or all wheel drive ( which does not have a low range ) * up to the 2010 model year *
yes. you need to take out the front end and bolt it on. then take out te transfer case and front drive shaft.
My f150 shifts from 2wheel to 4wheel on the fly, but to use 4low you need to be stopped with your transmission in neutral to engage the low range in my transfer case.
On vehicles with a true 2wd position in the transfer case, yes.
NO it will not. The center shaft in the 2-wheel drive transmissions are shorter then the 4-wheel drive transmission cause there is no need for a transfur case on the 2-wheel drives.
Disconnect the transfer case!
It will turn when driving because it is still hooked to the front tires. The only disconnect is on the transfer case.
No
There is no transfer case on a 2 wheel drive truck.
no
The encoder motor is located on the transfer case. The transfer case is on the driver's side of the truck. It resides between the front drive line, and the wall of the transfer case.
It will turn when driving because there isn't a disconnect from the front axle. It should be disconnected inside the transfer case.
