Run the truck until you have less than a 1/4 tank of fuel or siphon the fuel out. Remove the front seat. Remove cardboard cover that covers the fuel tank. Disconnect wires and fuel line to sending unit. Remove the sending unit from tank. Reverse for assembly.
start by dropping the tank down, disconnect hoses, wires, then the reatiner ring turns off, and fuel sending unit is out, no prob

check the gauges, disconnect the sending unit wires and see if the gauges go up, if not it is the gauges, make sure the key is on
The oil pressure sending unit is removed by disconnecting the wiring harness and unscrewing the unit using a wrench. The hole is then wiped clean, a new unit installed, and the wires reattached.
With a multimeter. The easy way is to unscrew, disconnect and remove the sending unit from the tank for testing. Once removed, connect the multimeter to the chassis of the sending unit and the isolated stud that was wired to the fuel a gauge. Depending on where the sending unit's arm is positioned different resistance values will result.
Its not the oil sensor sending unit. More than likely its a bad connection at the temperature sending unit. I have a 95 wrangler that was reading 260 degrees. I had a couple bare wires touching at the temp sending unit. Fixed the wires and all better now. Otherwise its probably the gauge itself.
It is located on the oil filter housing unit. It will be beside the oil filter. You need to disconnect the clip on top of the sending unit, then it unscrews. Once you replace it, don't forget to connect the clip.
need a fuel tank sending unit, or check the wires, but given the year its most likely the sending unit
There should be a grey plug just under the master cylinder disconnect it and turn on the ignition if the gauge reads full the problem is the sending unit in the tank (thats if the gauge was reading empty before). You can also check the sending unit by using an ohm meter and checking for 22.5 ohms at empty and 145 ohms at full the wires are the yellow/white and black/yellow that are coming from the grey plug I was talking about earlier. If the sending unit does not read in limits you will need to drop the tank and replace the sending unit that is connected to the fuel pump in the tank.
Check the speedometer sending unit, which is located on the final drive unit rear cover. Look for loose wires or replace the unit.
Fuel sending unit is in the tank, you need to check that the wiring is ok. Take the unit out and then turn the ignition but DO NOT START the engine - after holding the three wires from the sending unit together - this should show full tank and also low fuel indicator as being on. This show circuit is ok and sending unit is faulty. Regards - Qaiser
