unfortunately from what i have been trying to do for the longest time, is the same thing, disable the AFM on my 08 gmc sierra 5.3L and have found no easy way to disable it without a tune from a shop. I have a performance exhaust and a air-intake system and programmer from edge but still have to have it taken to a professional shop to have it tuned so the AFM will not work keeping it in V8 at all time. Sorry if this didnt help but like i said there's no easy way to have it done.
2008 GMC Sierra /w 4.5" lift, 35" Kelly Safari TSR tires, 4" performance exhaust, AEM intake, Edge evolution Programmer
No, none of the SRTs of that era had active MDS.
My 08 GMC Sierra has Active Fuel Management, and it does work while using cruise control.
Active fuel managment was first introduced by Catillac in 1981. Since Catillac was known for their big V8, this car featured a system that would make only have the cylinders fire.

how to disable pass lock fuel system cutoff on 1996 buick skylark so it still starts
Yes, it is more commonly used on diesel powered vehicles.

remove the fuel pump relay from the fuse box under the hood
Fuel management systems are used to maintain, control and monitor fuel consumption. They can track fuel transactions based on a credit card, as well as deliver fuel by trucks.
if the vehicle has an electirc fuel pump, remove the fuel pump fuse. If it is a manual type pump you will need to install a shut off valve.
If by disable you need to shut off the fuel pump your can pull the fuel pump relay fuse or pull the relay itself. They are usually under the hood on the drivers side and are well marked. CT
