The lenses, like those of many other newer model cars, get cloudy with time. This cloud can be removed by way of simple polishing. If you have access to a right angle drill and a polishing pad, you have the tools you need. Now, before mounting your polishing pad on the rubber, (flexible), backing plate soak it in water then wring it as dry as possible, by hand. Mount the pad then apply a bit of polishing compound to the pad and a smear on the lens. I use old fashioned Dupont polishing compound paste. Carefully polish the entire lens with the pad. Apply more compound as needed. Be careful. The compound is an abrasive and will remove the paint and chrome plating from neighboring parts. You can use masking tape to cover and protect them.
After a couple minutes of polishing, use a clean dry cloth to remove the compound haze. Continue working the compound on the lenses until you are happy with the results. Wipe them with the clean dry cloth and you're done. Think of it like waxing the car. By the way, the process can be done by hand too. It just takes longer. I don't recommend a standard straight angle drill as they are very hard to control on smooth rounded surfaces.
take the complete headlight assembly loose or out to get to the bulb.
There are little gears right behind the headlight assemblies.
Stand in front of the headlight assembly, with the hood open, notice the two black locking tabs sticking up behind the headlight assembly, remove the two tabs by pulling on them straight up, this will release the headlight assembly and allow you to wiggle the assembly out to expose the bulb and connections.
No they won't, but I wish they would!
Remove the retaining screws from the headlight assembly. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the headlight. The headlight will come out. Reverse the process to install the new headlight.
The same kind that is originally installed, if it uses fuses. The amperage is on the cover.
Remove the headlight assembly above the faulty signal bulb. This will give you access to the signal bulb socket. To remove the headlight assembly, open the hood, stand in front of the headlight assembly, notice two black tabs sticking up behind the headlight assembly inside the radiator support. Pull up and wiggle the tabs to remove them, this will release the headlight assembly. You can now wiggle the headlight assembly out to gain access to the signal bulb socket for replacement.
I have a 2001 pre-model changeover which should be similar to 1999. I'm not sure if you mean replacing the headlight bulb but if that's the case you would pull out the round rubber grommet and that makes the bulb assembly accessible. You just unclip it, pull it out and replace the bulb...To change the headlight assembly (housing) there are 2 mounting bolts on top (covered)to remove, then pull out the assembly...
Remove the entire headlight assembly to gain access to the bulbs.
so far i have removed the both axels and the wiper's assembly and air intake, tires.brakes
