It depends on which manual transmission you have. The 4 cyl motors used the AX4 or AX5 (4 speed & 5 speed) and the 6 cyl used the AX15. I have the AX15 & the drain is on the passenger side bottom, but the check is on the drivers side right about 1/2 way up the side just in front of the skid-plate. It uses 75W-90 GL5 fluid & capacity is at 6.8 pints from my manuals. If I am reading my manual correctly, the AX4/5 has the fluid level check high up on the passenger side. The AX5 is the most common for the manual with a 4 cyl mototr & it also uses the same fluid but capacity is listed at 7.0 pts. It is messy & very smelly fluid and you will need a special fluid hand pump to fill it. It is the same size as a grease gun. Often local shops run specials to have the 4WD fluids changed in your Jeep for under $100 and well worth the cost. The recommendation is buy a Hayne's repair manual for it. It has lots of good basic information and can be purchased from lots of places for under $15 usually. It depends on which manual transmission you have. Should be a plug on the side of the transmission - fill to this level
Check the clutch hydralic fluid level- on the driver's side firewall behind the washer bottle.
On the passenger side of the transmission there should be two large hex-screws towards the top. The upper one is the transmission fill plug.
No, dipstick. Fluid level is checked through a plug on the side.
I dont think manual transmission cars use transmission fluid.
This manual transmission does not have a dipstick. You check the oil level through a fill plug in the side of the case. This manual transmission does not have a dipstick. You check the oil level through a fill plug in the side of the case.
Should be a drain plug at bottom of transmission Should be a fill plug at side of transmission - fill to this level
There is an inspection port on the side of the transmission. Use a 15/16 wrench to loosen and remove the bolt. Stick your finger into the hole. With the Jeep on a level surface you should feel the lubricant just below the edge of the port.
First if it's a Automatic transmission you drive it around some to get it warm then you check the dipstick level if its on the full mark then it's fine. With a manual transmission you have can just check the dipstick.
2 plugs on the drivers side of the trans, one on the bottom for draining and one on the side for filling. Fill it until it overflows and put the plug back on.
side of transmission thru speedometer cable port
