# == # Step 1 Put on the parking brake, place cinder blocks behind the back wheels and then jack up your Chevy Silverado. Use the jack stands to help support the jack. Open the hood, use a screwdriver to unscrew the clamp that connects the negative battery cable to the battery post and remove the cable. # Step 2 Unscrew the radiator cap to release pressure. Twist off the drain plug located underneath the radiator on the right side. Catch the coolant in a clean container. Clean up any spills. # Step 3 Disassemble the parts the lead to the water pump on the Chevy Silverado using an adjustable wrench. In order, these include: air outlet ducts, radiator hose (both ends), coolant fan and clutch, drive belt, surge tank hose and heater hose. Lay each part out, with its bolts, in the order disconnected. == # Step 4 Remove the bolts securing the water pump to the block in any order, using an adjustable wrench. Scrape off the two gaskets that are going to either be on the water pump or attached to the block. You may need to chisel the seam between the block and the pump to separate them. # Step 1 Inspect the new Chevy Silverado water pump. It should be identical to the old pump, clean and free of any metal splinters. # Step 2 Position the new gaskets onto the water pump. Place high temperature automotive sealant around the area where you removed the old pump and hold the gaskets in place as you mount the entire assembly on top of the sealant. # Step 3 Tighten the new bolts in any order, using a torque wrench while the sealant is still wet to obtain a better hold. For most Silverado engines, use two rounds of tightening, first 11 foot pounds of torque and then 22 foot pounds of torque. # Step 4 Connect the rest of the parts in the order you took them off the Chevy Silverado. Replace any parts that are worn or damaged, especially the belts. # Step 5 Insert the drain plug into the bottom of the radiator. Refill the radiator with coolant, as specified in your owner's manual. Replace the radiator's cap. # Step 6 Reconnect and tighten the negative battery cable to the post with the screwdriver. Start the Chevy Silverado's engine and check for leaks. Then, close the hood and clean up any spilled coolant.
Tips & Warnings * The gasket may have disintegrated between the engine block and the pump. Wipe or scrape all the pieces off the engine before installing the new water pump. * There may be additional parts to remove to get to the water pump, depending on the Chevy Silverado's engine size. For example, in an 8.1L engine, you must reposition the water crossover hoses connected to the water pump before the hose is removed.

It has a electric pump inside of the fuel tank.
I'm not positive, but if it is a rubber typ ring, it is probably a gasket.
Not too sure, but I have an '03 that I'm going to replace the water pump, ac belt, and serpentine belt on. Can't be that hard, right?
Next to water pump.
i paid £15.00 to replace my water pump how long does it take to fit
Unless your '03 is drastically different from my '96, no. The water pump is generally driven by the serpentine belt.
Probably on the engine end of the upper radiator hose in a removable housing i have an '03 6.0L, the thermostat housing is part of/bolted to the water pump, where the top radiator hose comes into it. tweek
Honestly, if you have to ask here, you should take it to your local Chevy dealer and get them to do it.
